How memory grows

Six memory levels per Term.

Every Term you save carries its own memory level. Answer it well and it climbs, waits longer, and stops crowding your day. Miss it and it drops back to a shorter interval until it holds.

Memory Levels

Learned Terms: 18 across 42 total terms.

What moves a Term up

The first right answer starts the climb
A saved Term waits outside the schedule until you answer it once in Learn. That answer places it at Level 1 and it comes back about an hour later.
Two correct answers promote
Each level waits longer than the last: an hour, a day, three days, a week, a month, then about three months at Level 6.
Two wrong answers step back one level
A single miss only shortens the interval. Nothing falls below Level 1, so a bad session costs you days, never the work behind the Term.
Level 6 is Well remembered
Terms that reach the top keep stretching their interval while you keep getting them right, and stay counted in My Library.

Flashcard ratings count too, but Still learning and Know are your own judgement, so they lift a Term only as far as Level 4. Levels 5 and 6 need answers Learn can check.

Learner stories

Practice that keeps its context.

How learners describe their review routine once every Term carries its source sentence and notes.

  • I used to copy words into a spreadsheet and forget where they came from. Now each Term keeps the sentence I found it in, so the Flashcard still makes sense a week later.

  • I save phrases straight from the documentation I read at work. Learn asks me to produce them, which is harder than flipping a card and sticks better.

  • Due review tells me what to practise today. I stopped rereading the whole deck and just clear the queue.

    University studentPlaceholder quote
  • I ask students to write the confusing point on every note. When a card comes back, the reason they got it wrong is right there.

  • A bad session does not wipe my progress. The Term steps back one level and comes back sooner, so I lose days, not the work.

  • Phrasal verbs were my weak spot. Keeping two or three real examples per verb is what moved bring up from recognised to actually used.
