Privacy Policy

MemorizeKit is an AI-powered toolkit for personalized learning and effective memorization through active recall and spaced repetition, with English as its first learning domain. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use MemorizeKit, including readings, imports, notes, flashcards, Learn questions, reviews, and related services.

By using MemorizeKit, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Account and contact information: When you create an account or use features that require sign-in, we may collect your name, email address, and other contact details you provide.

1.2. Usage data: We may collect data about how you use MemorizeKit, such as page views, acquisition links you activate, and selected learning actions such as opening Flashcard or Learn from a Lesson. We do not intend to send lesson text, answers, search text, raw URLs, query strings, or fragments to analytics.

1.3. Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand usage patterns. You can manage cookie settings in your browser.

1.4. Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand product usage. Analytics may use analytics cookies, including Google-managed identifiers and the MemorizeKit consent cookie `memorizekit_analytics_consent`. When you are signed in, we may send Google Analytics an opaque internal User-ID so visits can be counted across sessions; we do not send your email address or name as that User-ID.

1.5. Browser extension content: The MemorizeKit extension reads text you explicitly select on normal web pages. Copy stays on your device. When you activate lookup, translation, grammar analysis, pronunciation, or lesson saving, the content needed for that action is sent to MemorizeKit services. Contextual translation may also send the visible sentence containing the selection, limited to 1,000 Unicode code points. The extension does not collect browsing history, page URLs, hidden fields, or unrelated page content.

1.6. Extension account data and preferences: Sign-in processes your email, account profile, authentication credentials, and session tokens. Extension tokens and one-time codes are held in memory rather than persisted in Chrome Storage. Chrome Storage retains toolbar preferences, your automatic-session-restore preference, and the last selected Lesson ID for your account. Our authentication service uses session cookies.

1.7. AI conversations and saved learning content: Messages you send in the Side Panel and generated responses can be saved in your account so you can return to conversation history. Content you choose to add to a Lesson is also saved. Avoid selecting or sending sensitive information that you do not want processed.

2. How We Use Your Information

2.1. We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve MemorizeKit, including learning content, reading, import, flashcard, Learn, and review features.

2.2. We may use your contact information to send you important updates, security notices, or other information about your account or our services.

2.3. We may use analytics data to understand visits, page views, and broad feature usage so we can improve the product and infrastructure. Analytics collection is consent-aware; the current implementation assumes consent is granted until the planned consent dialog is added, and future consent controls will update the same cookie.

2.4. Selected content and AI messages are used to fulfill the learning action you request. When service evaluation logging is enabled, requests and responses may be retained for quality evaluation and troubleshooting. This data currently has no automatic expiry; retention and cleanup are managed by MemorizeKit. Contact us to request access to your account data.

2.5. You can request account deletion under Account → Security; the account is deleted 30 days after you confirm, and you can cancel during that time. Learning data and AI conversations are not yet deleted with the account. See Delete account for what is deleted, what is retained, and what is not yet deleted.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

3.1. We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.

3.2. We may share your information with trusted service providers that help us operate MemorizeKit, for example hosting, Google Analytics, or email. Those providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.

3.3. We may disclose your information when required by law or when we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or to comply with legal process.

3.4. MemorizeKit services may send the content needed for your requested action to language, AI, translation, and text-to-speech providers. Audio is delivered through our content delivery network. We do not use or transfer extension user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to its learning features.

3.5. Compliance with Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements: MemorizeKit commits to collecting, using, and sharing browser extension user data in compliance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is processed only to provide, maintain, protect, and improve the extension's disclosed English learning features.

4. Data Security

4.1. We use industry-standard measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.

4.2. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe.

5. Third-Party Links

5.1. MemorizeKit may link to third-party sites, such as documentation, learning resources, or community channels. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before sharing your data.

6. Children's Privacy

6.1. MemorizeKit is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

7.1. We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date will be revised. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
